WHAT I CAN ASSIST WITH

Core Principles/My Ethos

I offer a confidential, nurturing, and supportive environment for self-exploration, where you can uncover and follow your path, with me accompanying you – leading, following, or simply being there whenever needed. I believe that while we may experience hurt in relationships, healing also occurs within them. The therapeutic relationship provides a beautiful space where processing and the beginning of a new life journey can take place.

Evidence-Based

My approach is driven by the aim of achieving your set goals, and as such, I utilise methodologies that are evidence-based and proven effective across various types of therapeutic work.

Humanistic and experiential

My work is inherently humanistic and experiential. Humanistic psychotherapy is a therapeutic approach that emphasizes the individual's inherent potential for growth and self-actualization. It focuses on the whole person, recognizing the subjective experiences and emotions of individuals. Key principles include the belief in the inherent goodness of people, the importance of free will, and the focus on the present moment. Key techniques often involve empathy, unconditional positive regard, and active listening.

Experiential therapy is a therapeutic approach that encourages clients to engage in activities and experiences that help them explore and process their emotions and thoughts. It emphasizes active involvement and focuses on the present moment rather than solely discussing past experiences. Techniques may include role-playing, expressive arts, guided imagery, and activities that promote physical expression. The goal is to help clients gain insights, resolve conflicts, and foster emotional growth by experiencing their feelings directly. This approach can be particularly effective in addressing trauma, emotional blockages, and enhancing self-awareness and personal growth.

Identifying Problems

Determining when to commence therapy is a recurring question and one that is challenging to answer. While diagnosis can aid in understanding what isn't going well, I believe it's your own judgment and experiences that should guide you. If you find yourself struggling with an issue, feeling dissatisfied with the outcomes of your efforts, or facing particular challenges in life, there may be room for growth, and assistance is available through tailored sessions. It's advisable to schedule an initial session to discuss and assess your personal situation and challenges. Following this meeting, I can offer guidance on further steps.

Balancing Guidance and Support

The notion that therapy involves being 'fixed' by a professional is not entirely accurate. It requires effort on your part, as I believe you hold the answers to your own questions – you may just need support and sometimes guidance to uncover them. During our sessions, I strike a balance between guiding you and accompanying you on your journey. While I bring experience and knowledge, each person is a unique individual with their own self-structure. I endeavour to remain open and curious about your world, allowing your unique solutions to emerge.

Balancing Conscious and Subconscious Work

Dialogue is crucial, as it enables the expression of thoughts too daunting to articulate. It also fosters connection; I listen, reflect, and pose questions to fully explore your perspectives. Additionally, delving into your subconscious is essential for similar reasons, albeit requiring a different approach. While you possess the language of the subconscious, I am present to assist you in refining your fluency. The subconscious mind holds valuable insights, with many answers to your questions lying dormant within it. Through techniques such as hypnosis, psychodrama, constellations, and meditation, we can delve into this realm.

Framework, Sessions, Health Assessment

Following an initial session where we determine if we are a good fit, we establish the frequency, duration, and objectives of the therapy process, as well as the methodologies to be employed. A health assessment is conducted at this time, and I will provide my Terms and Conditions.
